Three types of batteries are currently used in mobile phones. Their most important features are compared in the following:

NiCd (Nickel- Cadmium battery pack)
+ the highest number of recharging cycles (1 000, approximately)
+ the lowest price
- substantial weight
- memory effect

NiMH (Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery pack)
provides for 500 recharging cycles, approximately
capacity larger by 1/3, as compared to NiCd

LiIon (Lithium-Ion battery pack)
+ the largest capacity
+ the lowest weight
- the longest recharging period
- the highest price
