EUROTEL HAS FULFILLED LICENSING CONDITIONS

EuroTel Praha, the largest operator of mobile telephones in the Czech Republic, is the first operator to have fully complied with the conditions stipulated on 31 December 1997 in the license for operating GSM mobile telephones.

Compliance with the licensing conditions relating to the development and quality of the GSM network was confirmed to EuroTel's Executive Director, Mac Allman, by the Chief Director of the Czech Telecommunications Bureau, Ing. David Stádník, in a letter on 18 February 1998.

The EuroTel GSM Global signal, which currently covers more than 90% of the Czech Republic's population, was used by more than 327,000 customers at the end of 1997. "According to the network monitoring which we do daily and according to very demanding criteria, we provide the best quality signal in the Czech Republic. This year we want to invest more than 6 billion CZK for further development of coverage and improvement of the signal, for example, inside buildings and in small and remote locations," Iva Taťounová, EuroTel's spokesperson, emphasized in this respect.

EuroTel Praha Ltd is a joint venture of SPT TELECOM, Inc. (51%) and Atlantic West B.V. (49%). Atlantic West B.V. is equally owned by Bell Atlantic (NYSE:BELL) and MediaOne International, which is also known as US WEST International, a part of MediaOne Group (NYSE:UMB).
