WITH EUROTEL YOU CAN CALL FOR FREE IN METRO!

From Monday morning, 22nd March 1999, EuroTel GSM Global and EuroTel GO customers can use their mobile phones for free national calls and for free SMS messages in the Prague Metro.

As of the March 19, when EuroTel together with the other operator started the operation of the EuroTel GSM Global network at the most frequent stations I.P.Pavlova, Můstek and Museum stations, customers can call and receive calls or send and receive SMS messages.

From today EuroTel offers to its customers free calls and free SMS during the next 30 days in the Metro in those three stations - I.P.Pavlova, Můstek and Museum, while on the platform.

"Quality coverage and quality of calls - that is the competitive advantage of EuroTel. Within the frame of this pilot project, we want all of our customers to try our Metro coverage. We have installed the most advanced technology available and we need to understand both customer usage and system performance," said the Managing Director of EuroTel, Ed Kingman, on the occasion of this pilot project.

"EuroTel is by the customer base the recognized leader and largest operator on the Czech market. Our goal is to continue to be the leading company as regards to quality of coverage and to provide value for money services. Metro coverage demonstrates that we continue to fulfill this obligation," emphasized Ed Kingman.

1. Initiative to cover Metro was brought by EuroTel, when in the spring 1996 EuroTel started first technical Metro measurements.

2. In September 1996 EuroTel started negotiations with Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy about conditions of GSM technology installation.

3. In November 1996 Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy asked EuroTel to include second operator in technical solution.

4. In March 1997 "Sdružení Metro" association was established, EuroTel and the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic became its members; the purpose was to ensure coverage of the underground Metro spaces by EuroTel GSM Global signal and by the signal of mass radio network of the Ministry of Interior.

5. RadioMobil joined "Sdružení Metro" association later on in November 1997 and EuroTel was delegated to control the project.

EuroTel negotiated the conditions with Dopravní podnik, ordered the construction, and is in charge of the financial means of the "Sdružení Metro" association. The functional operation of the GSM networks is monitored from the EuroTel Network Management Center in Olšanská street. This center is the central point for network monitoring and for controlling all the processes in the network. It operates 24 hours a day and guarantees effective, consistent and very reliable operation. EuroTel has invested large amounts of financial means in establishment and operation of the Network Management Center. The technology can bear the most exacting criteria and comparisons; this was one of the reasons why EuroTel was entrusted to monitor the whole project.

Even today EuroTel works to extend the coverage in other Metro spaces.

"Everything we do every day is motivated by the wish to fully satisfy our customers. The total number of our customers proves that the customers prefer quality services provided by EuroTel. We are proud that it was EuroTel who brought the whole project to the successful close, since it proves the quality of our services. Once again EuroTel proved by this step that it belongs among the leading world operators in mobile communications, because only the most advanced networks offer the Metro coverage," added Ed Kingman.
