GARRY KASPAROV PRESENTS EUROTEL TROPHY

A unique chess event will be held in Prague! The world top grandmaster Mr. Alexei Shirov will meet the world strongest female player ever, Ms. Judit Polgar in the EuroTel Trophy chess match in Prague, the Czech Republic, from 10th to 18th July 1999. The EuroTel Trophy ´99 is presented by the world champion Garry Kasparov – the winner of EuroTel Trophy ´98.

The winner of the EuroTel Trophy - presented by Garry Kasparov – in a tournament of six games – will receive $ 65, 000 USD, the total prize fund is $ 100,000 USD. The EuroTel Trophy tournament will be held in the Divadlo Archa theatre in Prague. The grand opening is on schedule for 10th July 1999. During the grand opening the chess players will draw the lot themselves, using EuroTel mobile phones.

The first game will start on Sunday 11th July 1999 at 2: 30 p.m. CET, and will be played with the time control of 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by 20 moves in 1 hour, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game. World and Czech Chess Grandmasters will provide the match commentary.

The public has free access to the EuroTel Trophy chess tournament! Those who are interested in any of the games can get a ticket at the box office of the Divadlo Archa theatre free of charge.

EuroTel Trophy will be broadcast "LIVE" on the Internet at www.iol.cz . The schedule of the games is as follows:

Game 1 Sunday, July 11th
Game 2 Monday, July 12th
Game 3 Wednesday, July 14th
Game 4 Thursday, July 15th
Game 5 Saturday, July 17th
Game 6 Sunday, July18th
