Reference.com was a continuation of the Stanford Information Filtering Tool (SIFT), monitoring news (Usenet) feeds and other discussion groups. Users could submit their interest profiles, and the service was able to serve individual users with link to items that correspond to their interest profiles. This video shows an example of setting such an interest profile, then reading an email with headlines of items found, and continues with reading full text of the article. Filmed in December 1996

Služba Reference.com byla pokračováním služby SIFT (Stanford Information Filtering Tool), která monitorovala diskusní skupiny síťových novin (Usenet) a další elektronické konference, a umožňovala v nich vyhledávat. Uživatelé si mohli vytvořit své zájmové profily, a na jejich základě jim služba pravidelně posílala náhledy příspěvků, které vyhovovaly jejoch zájmovým profilům. Natočeno v prosinci 1996.
